Rathmoy Rough Shoots
9-gun Rathmoy Rough Shooting is unpredictable and exciting, combining the challenge of fast flushing driven birds with the thrill of Walked Up hunting over dogs for part of the day.
Afternoon prior to the shoot
A few coveys of simulated clays to take the edge off before an eye improver followed by a BBQ featuring our finest Rathmoy Farms Speckle Park beef and fine wine. Relax after dinner next to the roaring log fire with a single malt whisky, a barrel aged rum or a vintage port. Or look up at the stars with a dip in the wood fired hot tub.
Shoot day
After a hearty cooked breakfast there’s an 8.45.am safety briefing, a run through the day’s program and a toast to the birds. We can tailor the day to your shooting requirements. Last season we started most Rough Days’ first drive with shooting over dogs, through kale and swedes on flat ground; the guns found it very enjoyable and different.
A few beats, very relaxed hunting, a gun or two may even find themselves in the beating line. Lunch is taken in the field unless the weather is poor.
At the end of the day we come together to give thanks to the birds and the team, and share a few yarns with new friends. A sumptuous formal dinner follows with the best of food and drinks.
Late to bed for a well-earned sleep in crisp linens. Depart after lie in and breakfast the next morning.
