Driven Shoots
Rathmoy Estate’s premier shooting experience is the 9-drawn peg Driven Shoot, providing an unique experience in four or five different locations around the estate; areas created by the natural folds in the landscape. Embracing the traditions and etiquette of authentic English driven shooting, in a classic Kiwi way, Rathmoy‘s driven shooting experience is world class.
Afternoon prior to the shoot
A few coveys of high simulated clays to take the edge off before an eye improver, followed by a BBQ featuring our finest Rathmoy Farms Speckle Park beef and fine wine. Relax after dinner next to the roaring log fire with a single malt whisky, a barrel aged rum or a vintage port. Or look up at the stars with a dip in the wood fired hot tub.
Shoot day
The Driven Shoot is the finest shooting experience at the beginning of each season, with exhilarating shooting and big bags in our stunning locations.
After a hearty cooked breakfast there’s an 8.45.am safety briefing, a run through the day’s program and toast to the birds. Two drives to start then elevenses, followed by another drive before lunch taken in the field (back at the lodge if the weather is inclement). We finish the day with one or two further drives, time dependant.
At the end of the day we come together to give thanks to the birds and the team, and share a few yarns with new friends. A sumptuous formal dinner follows with the best of food and drinks. Late to bed for a well-earned sleep in crisp linens. Depart after a lie in and breakfast the next morning.
